Another Long-time Blizzard Employee Exits Activision Blizzard

World of Warcraft’s in-game cinematic director, Terran Gregory writes a heart-wrenching good-bye to a very dear friend and close work colleague, being careful not to reveal the person’s name.

“I wouldn’t be where I am today without his friendship, his support, his help and hard work. I’ll always be thankful he was there at some of the most challenging parts of my journey to pick me up and find the strength to carry on.”

In a series of tweets, Terran Gregory told the story of he and his friend worked their asses off, forming a near-inseparable bond over the course of their 13 years creating some of the best cinematic gaming content ever. The Blizzard team has a way of making their player base and onlookers feel all of the feels through their incredible animation, effects code, storytelling—and Gregory’s friend, no doubt, “has facets of his soul all over” the amazing visualizations that they’ve given us over the years. Especially Wrathgate.

We can’t help but wonder who this person could be. They’ve worked on many projects together, including “Gnomeregan Gnews, Black Temple, Zul’Aman.” And just wanted to “make the best content we could make in the video department.” Whoever he is, we wish him the best of luck on his journey, wherever the path may take him.

A good friend of mine hit the ol’ dusty trail in search of his next adventure today, and I would be remiss not to spin a tale in honor of his deeds. Buckle up, it’s story time. 1/x

So where does that leave Blizzard Entertainment? Why are so many people leaving now? People are jumping ship left and right and one can surmise it’s due to the direction Activision is trying to pull Blizzard. Blizzard has always been about creating the very best in content for fans and player-base. It’s possible that lately they’ve been feeling the pinch of a corporation’s preference of shareholder value over player satisfaction and the Blizzard talent who has wowed players from the very beginning aren’t about that life. At least, that’s my take on it. Maybe it’s time for Blizzard to be on their own again.
